Growing Produce. Growing Lives.

GROW Urban Farm is a social enterprise of Flying HIGH Inc. that provides hands-on workforce development and job readiness training to individuals who face barriers to employment. Work

GROW stands for Gaining Real Opportunities for Work, and that’s exactly what the program delivers. Participants work alongside experienced staff to learn essential skills such as teamwork, responsibility, time management, and communication, all while producing high-quality, locally grown food.

Through professionalism workshops and hands-on training in horticulture, greenhouse operations, organic land care, irrigation, business and marketing techniques, and basic carpentry, participants develop transferable skills that prepare them to gain and maintain employment in any industry. Participants may also earn training stipends while preparing for the workforce, and funds generated from the farm help support the ongoing operations of the program.

home depot fdn

GROW Urban Farm is grateful for the support of The Home Depot Foundation, whose $4,000 grant and Team Depot volunteers from Store #3886 in Austintown, Ohio, helped construct our new farm pavilion. This space serves as an outdoor classroom and community hub, hosting workshops, training sessions, and educational activities that empower individuals and strengthen our community.

Testimonials

Flying HIGH provided me a safe environment that kept me busy and engaged and challenged me to develop in multiple areas of life. I took advantage of programs to become a productive member of society. I gained computer skills, gardening, and obtained certifications as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant and Peer Recovery Supporter. I was given fundamental knowledge to become more prepared for a job. All of this has prepared me for a better life.
